I am extremely grateful today and every day for my friends. Those people who care and will not stand for me feeling sorry for myself or being less than my best; they will not tolerate it, they drag me into what I didn’t know would feel comfortable and into what I wanted to shy away from, all the while reminding me of my impact on their lives and my value to them.
I am grateful for my nieces and nephews who continue to inspire me to strive to be the “larger than life aunt” they see me as.
I am grateful for my parents, for inspired by the divinity in their own spirits, they called me “Chandra” the moon that outshines even the brightest stars.
I am grateful for my grandparents and great grandparents whom I had the pleasure to know in my short life, for they called me eagle as a child and inspired me to be uncomfortable in the regular and to strive for my deeper self.
I am truly blessed. Not just today as I spend time thinking on this, but on the days that I am too weary to embrace my privilege. I am grateful for the memory, the thought of those whose shoulders I stand on, and the sisterhood of my counterparts, my friends. Their love and companionship brings me alive to the truth of my existence, and I am thus inspired to strive for more than what is.
