The opening of the Peter Tosh Museum represents a Jamaican cultural milestone in the recognition of the tremendous work and discography of an activist, freedom fighter and cultural icon. This is yet another opportunity for Jamaicans, young and old, to embrace the genius of another son of the land of wood and water, born in struggle, raised in love, who chose the fight for justice and equity and became elevated into global stardom in the process. Raw and organic in his delivery, his message was that bitter pill that folks were timid to express but knew was necessary. This museum will embody the life’s work of this man, who was dedicated to the cause of freedom and the plight of the oppressed and Black people everywhere.
