Today is National Day of Prayer where blue symbolizing Peace will be the color of the day here in Jamaica; the United States celebrated its National Day of Prayer earlier this year in May.
As I reflected this morning on Veterans Day, Tuesday’s Election Day and the subsequent days leading up to today at home in New York and in the USA, I realized a common thread that bind the two countries today-our resilience and our commitment to an electoral process that gives voice to the citizenry, and our belief in democracy. A day like today, offers us serving in Jamaica, a chance to celebrate with our host nation and communities; and while we celebrate this day of prayer commemorated today in Jamaica, let us also pray (in whatever form we express that act) for our veterans, our home, our government, our New President and the world, that Peace will be the guiding principle today and always.
